Natty Remo
Natty Remo
Since the early 1970's many great entertainers have emerged from the Island of Jamaica to take their message and culture of reggae music globally. Bob Marley and the Wailers, I-Roy, Big Youth, Shabba Ranks, Tony Rebel and Garnet Silk to name a few. Born, Burchell Daniel Bailey, "Natty Remo" intends to continue this tradition.

His formative years were spent in Jamaica traveling the Island with various sound systems, sharpening his vocal skills. In 1988 Natty Remo (he was known as Captain Remo at that time) migrated to the United States and landed in New York City. He entered the scene as a mesmerizing performance artist, just as Shaggy, Rayvon and Super cat were making waves. Remo became a household name with both dance and stage show attendees, in the U.S, Caribbean and Europe.

He caught the attention of Junior Forbes, veteran promoter and younger brother of Copeland Forbes. A tour was booked. Headlining the tour were the Mighty Diamonds, Frankie Paul, Junior Jazz and Natty Remo. They played North America and Canada, with the last leg of the tour ending in New York. They received rave reviews from several entertainment journalists. After a few years of performing, he naturally returned to Jamaica with all he had learned. It was time to do some studio recordings. Bobby Digital of "Digital B", Barry O'Hare of "Grove Studios", and Phillip Smart of "HC&F Recordings", Long Island, New York, produced songs which catapulted his name into the musical stratosphere. This earned him nominations for DJ of the year, two consecutive years in a row by the Tamika Awards (NYC) and a nomination for Best New Artist in 1996 by the Binns Awards (Jamaica).

Promoters of the White River Bash, Sumfest, Reggae Sunsplash, Sting and the Vermont Music Festival started to grab at a chance to book this new act. He did a few college tours and performed alongside some of Jamaica's greats. This positioned him once again to be considered when Run Netherlands and Barry O'Hare planned their European tour. Acts booked were Mikey Spice, President Brown and Natty Remo. They were well received, but Remo realized that he was working and performing without an album under his belt. At the end of this tour he took a brief hiatus to tend to the needs of his family.

In 1999, Remo signed a recording contract with Lance O'Brien of Kulcha Shock Muzik, and in 2002 "Babylon fall", Remo's first album was born. A video has been released for the title track, and once again he is being heard and seen by his fans. A 16 track CD with 5 instrumental mixes offers original songs with clean conscious lyrics.

Natty Remo continues to work endlessly with long time friend and collaborator, Anthony Rochester known for writing songs with and for the late great Garnet Silk, Everton Blender, Marcia Griffiths and Kashief Lindo. They are working on his sophomore album which is sure to captivate and warm the hearts of reggae listeners. You are guaranteed to hear a variation of styles and soul stirring lyrics which showcase his international flare.

Poised and ready for greatness, he intends to carry his message of peace and love to the four corners of the world. This is your introduction to Natty Remo.
