This band from the U.S. Virgin Islands is getting rave reviews wherever they
perform these days. They were billed over the past six years as the VI's best
kept secret but that has changed quickly! Unlike many bands that have been around
this long, they have only produced four albums.
Still, as fans got introduced to their sound they were quite surprised to find
a band with solid, quality, seventies style roots reggae still around and recording.
However, it is their live shows that separate them from the field!
"Inner Visions" has two strong lead vocalists that compose and perform
their own compositions with conviction. Boasting three and at times four part
harmonies make them unique by today's industry standards.
Just when you think the vibes are jelling from the tight vocals you hear, out
jumps that unique rock style guitar that is great but never over the top. The
rhythm section is tight and innovative. They borrow elements from other genres
but remain grounded in roots which make them refreshing to listen to.
The band (like Morgan Heritage and others), has a strong family unit. It is comprised
of:
Phillip "Grasshopper" Pickering (Guitar/Lead Vocals/Percussion)
Alvin "Jupiter" Pickering (Bass/BK Vocals)
Akiba "Mr. Snooze" Pickering (Keyboards/Rap Vocals)
Aswad "Hollywood" Pickering (Drums/Percussions).
Note: "Grasshopper" and "Jupiter" are brothers. "Mr.
Snooze" and "Hollywood" are brothers and are both son's of "Grasshopper".
Rounding out this tight combination is Paul "Ossi" aka "Ras
Paul" Samms (Lead Vocals/percussions) and on occasion Leroy "Spikening"
Guiste (keyboards/BK Vocals).
