"Don't Give Up, I know we can make it!" is the anthemic statement that introduces the super-good new album "To The Root" from Batch, the dynamic singer and producer of Sound Vizion Records. The song "Don't Give Up" has to be one of the best songs of 2007, as it sets the tone and tempo for an album that is good all the way through. No fluff here.
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Batch, the tracks are of the best roots quality in music today. The beats are very refreshing and without hesitation, tracks such as "Liberation", "To The Root", "Hail The King", "We Stay", "Conquor Dem", "Good People", "Babylon" and "Don't Give Up" are sure to make this album a "Best Of" in 2007. The super talented Ras Attitude blesses the album with a vocal appearance along with Sister Ima, Ras Ahfyah, Nazarite and the heartical new chanter Ambush.
To The Root embodies the full character of the Virgin Islands sound and character with musicianship contribution from bassist Phil Merchant now of the D.A.P.P. Band, the highly regarded guitarist Tuff Lion, bassist Kenyatta Itola of the Red I Band, Black Starr Band, Tappie, The Great Abu and Bandele Chinouyazue. In addition to this great mix of talent is the foundation sound of the Zioniers, one of St. Croix's most veteran bands.
From top to bottom, "To The Root" is another uplifting and spirited album from this humble Rasta whose little island of St. Croix continues to showcase its wealth of music and talent.
